Adam Lewis has agreed a new contract at Liverpool according to Sky Sports with the youngster tipped to be involved in the first-team picture next season.

The 19-year-old, who can also play in midfield, captained Liverpool’s under-18 side under Steven Gerrard, and the Reds icon had been linked with a move to take him to Rangers.

The England under-19 international is highly-rated at Anfield, and has been tipped to take Alberto Moreno’s place in the first-team squad next season.

Moreno will leave Anfield on a free transfer in the summer, leaving a vacancy for an understudy to first-choice Andrew Robertson at left-back.

The teenage left-back has yet to make his senior debut for the Reds, but he did travel with the squad to their training camp in Marbella last week.

The Liverpool Echo ‘s James Pearce spoke of how highly the Local lad is rated at Anfield in a Q&A on the site, writing: “Liverpool have big hopes for Adam Lewis and if he steps up and delivers between now and August he could establish himself as Robertson’s deputy with Moreno leaving this summer.”
