CIES: Super Eagles Wont Go Beyond Group Stage in 2018 World Cup
A Swiss-based football data company, otherwise known as CIES Football Observatory has carried out a comprehensive study and tried to predict the possible winner of the World Cup this summer based on its special power index.
A total of twenty-three players were selected for each nation participating in the 2018 World Cup based on their appearances during the qualifying campaign with the average sporting level of employer clubs and the average percentage of club matches played since July 2017 were taken into consideration.
Spain is favorites to win their second World Cup with a power index of 100, followed by Brazil, France, and Germany in that order, according to the results of the study.
The Super Eagles are placed in the 22nd position out of the 32 participating teams and have been predicted to finish third in their Group thus crashing out in the group stage.
Nigeria scored 73 percent as their M %, i.e. the percentage of domestic league matches played by the Super Eagles stars since July 2017.
