Manchester United are in contact with Napoli midfielder Jorginho so as to beat the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to his signature this summer.
The 26-year-old has been linked with some of the Premier League’s major clubs as a result of his performances this season with 3 goals to his credit in 30 appearances which helped Napoli to second in the Serie A table.
Jorginho was part of the Italian side that played Argentina in an international friendly at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium Friday night, and Rai Sport reports that United sent reps to meet with midfielder’s agent, Joao Santos after the game.
Liverpool had been in the lead for the race for Jorginho’s signature prior to Friday’s friendly, but United have now tried to overtake their bitter rivals in the pecking order by making contact with the player.
Mourinho is looking at options to shore up his midfield because of the impending retirement of Michael Carrick and expected exit of Marouane Fellaini, as well as Paul Pogba’s form.
But, Napoli are unwilling to lose the midfielder & would demand a fee of at least £50m before they consider selling Jorginho.
