Manchester United Ready to Sign Kieran Tierney
Jose Mourinho has identified Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney as a likely transfer target this summer.
The 20-year-old only signed a new 6-year deal with the Scottish champions last October, but his performances for club & country have led to interest from some top teams.
Tierney has captained Celtic as well as Scotland regardless of his age & is already a major member of Brendan Rodgers’s side in Glasgow, making 41 appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions this season.
United are now lining up a summer move for the youngster as the Manchester United manager maps out an revamp of the defensive options at his disposal, The Daily Record claims.
The Red Devils are expected to splash the cash this summer so as to close the gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, and seemingly see Tierney as a latent solution to their left-back problems.
Ashley Young has impressed as a provisional defender in that position this season, but Mourinho is understood to want a specialist left-back & believes the Scotland international is the best option.
Kieran Tierney could be available for around £20m notwithstanding the length of his new deal, making him a fairly cheap option in the current market.
