Troost-Ekong, Balogun Happy Over Ikeme Recovery From Leukaemia

Nigeria defenders William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun along with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have expressed happiness over cheering news by Carl Ikeme that he is in full remission concerning his ailment.

Ikeme had been undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with acute leukemia in 2017 and has now revealed the good news of his recovery on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday.

Giving an update on his ailment, Ikeme wrote: “After a year of intense chemotherapy I would like to share that I am in complete REMISSION. I still have hurdles to pass to be cured, but hopefully, I can move on with some normality! I would like to thank everyone for there support over the past year. Thank you #Grateful.”

The NFF tweeted in response to Ikeme’s tweet: “Great News! We are with you through and through and God will see this healing through. #OurCarlIsBack.”

Troost-Ekong wrote: “Thank God bro, best news! You are inspirational. We are with you all the way until you are cured.”

Balogun responded: “This is the best news in this World Cup so far.”

Though being in complete remission shows the vanishing of all signs of cancer in response to treatment but does not always mean cancer has been fully cured.
