Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez are in disagreement over who they should sign in midfield this summer.

Having recently paid £130m on Eden Hazard, attention has now turned to finding a central midfielder to supply the Belgian.

Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and Manchester United ace Paul Pogba are the two names on their list.

The Daily Mail claims Perez would fancy signing Eriksen because it would be a more straight forward negotiation.

The report states that Perez feels it would be tricky to negotiate a deal with Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola.

Notwithstanding Tottenham being keen to keep hold of the Dane at  £89m, he would come a lot cheaper than Pogba at between £142m and £160m.

And despite Pogba proving to be more costly, the Frenchman is the No 1 choice of Zidane.

With Toni Kroos playing a similar role as Eriksen, Zidane feels Pogba would be the perfect man to partner Casemiro in the heart of midfield and offers more than the Spurs star.

Zidane believes Real Madrid – who finished third and 19 points behind champions Barcelona in La Liga – lack athleticism.

According to the Daily Mail, it will not be financially feasible to complete deals for both so Zidane and Perez will need to reach an understanding on who to prioritise.
